Welcome to the Fannin County Library Facility Project Page. We will be posting updates to this page as project developments occur.

New Update March 10, 2025 : MRLS and the Fannin County Commissioners held a joint groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the beginning of the construction phase. All 3 Fannin County Commissioners, Senator Steve Gooch, Representative Johnny Chastain, Library Trustees and others were all in attendance. Everyone that has been involved in the process is beyond thrilled to get this project underway.

January 29, 2025 : MRLS, Fannin County Commissioners and Albion Construction have agreed to a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) contract. The contract was signed by all parties. The estimated start of construction date is early March with a completion date approximately 9 months after the beginning of construction. If all goes well, the new facility could be open soon after January 1, 2026!! Below are conceptual representations of what the facility will be when completed.

May 1, 2024 : MRLS and Fannin County have entered into a contractual agreement with TSW Design to act as the primary architectural firm handling layout and design of the new Fannin County Library. MRLS and Fannin County are excited TSW has chosen to accept the challenge and lend their knowledge and expertise to this crucial project. Some quick details about this project are:

The State of Georgia has committed @ $2.7 million to the construction of this new facility
Fannin County Government has committed another $1.3 million to the construction of this new facility
Onsite parking will be available
A community meeting area and a dedicated genealogy area will be incorporated into the floor design
Construction will hopefully be completed by April 2025
Design and Architectural Services RFP was posted on August 8, 2023
Bids for design will be accepted through October 6, 2023

Request for Proposal - Design Services for the New Fannin Facility - Expired

As of August 8, 2023, bids are now being accepted for professional design and architectural services for the new facility. Bids will be accepted until October 6, 2023. Bids will opened and evaluated soon after and then a contract will be awarded within the following 30 days. Full details are listed in the RFP below.
